UN inspectors are doing some variation on observing/actioning the disposal/destruction of Syria's chemical weapons. This post is not about that. It's about every article I've seen on the subject having pictures of Land Cruiser 200's! Relevant pics after the jump...

why they say "Trojan" on the side?
Are they sponsored by condoms?
Or, worse, are conspiracy theorists right and is the UN just a sneaky ploy to get soldiers past the city gates via an transport that the city dwellers welcome in?

I was actually going to question that in the post but I forgot... I would really like to know.
It does work very well with the conspiracy angle.

Invaded by white Toyotas...at least they're not beige.

I think you'll find there are two non-toyotas (Defenders) in the top pic! Although it does appear they're not actually UN vehicles.
The UN loves Toyota but then so do the civilians and armies of the countries that the UN operations are in. Land Cruisers, Hilux and Hiace dominate the developing world automotive sector.

I think it may be the security firm that does the modifications to the vehicles as light armour packages iirc

I'm guessing the important people get the silver or black ones without the overt UN designation. Or that could be a red herring, given the circumstances.
I have read, at least for the LC70, that the difference is beige ones are regular gas and the white ones are diesel.
You're saying you don't like this?!

It is the security firm that does the armour package for the 200s that the UN owns http://www.stoof-international.de/en/armoured-of…
